Bruce Beemer (born 1969/70) is an American lawyer who is the 49th Pennsylvania Attorney General and Inspector General of Pennsylvania at the moment.

Biography

Beemer received a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton in 1992. He completed his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1995.

Careers

Beemer served as deputy district attorney for Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, from 1996 to 2010.

He first entered the Attorney General's office in 2011 as chief of staff of Linda L. Kelly. Kathleen Kane retained Beemer as chief of staff when Kane was elected to the Attorney General's office. Beemer was later promoted to First Deputy Attorney General. In July 2016, Governor Tom Wolf appointed Beemer to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office to replace Kathleen Kane, who was convicted of alleged crimes and then resigned. Beemer was unanimously confirmed by the State Senate and took office on 31 August. The term of Beemer ended in January 2017, and was replaced by fellow Democrat Josh Shapiro.
