David Lane (born January 4, 1954) is a lawyer in Denver, Colorado with firm Killmer, Lane & amp; LLP Newman.

He is a member of the American Civil Liberties Union, and formerly representing Ward Churchill. In March 2006, geography teacher Jay Bennish hired him to help with his recovery after being suspended. Lane has lectured across the country on civil and criminal rights issues, most often involving the Colorado jury selection method. Among his civil rights cases, Lane represented Steve Howard who was arrested for approaching vice-president Dick Cheney and told him that his policies in Iraq were "disgusting."
In October, 2009, Lane was retained by Fort Collins, residents of Colorado Richard and Mayumi Heene, parents of the six-year-old media called the Balloon Boy, Falcon Heene, after the announcement of an upcoming lawsuit by the Larimer County authorities, and possibly by federal authorities. Lane told the media that he expected his clients to fully comply and "surrender to", and that he hoped to avoid "spectacle and humiliation" from situations where the couple would be arrested in public and/or in front of their children..
