The Department of Taxes and the House of Attorney General Assembly (sometimes abbreviated to The Attorney General's Chamber Building) is currently the tallest building in Botswana and one of the most expensive buildings built in Africa. The building, located at the Government Enclave at Nelson Mandela Drive in Gaborone, is home to the Botswana Tax Department and the Prosecutor's Chamber.

History

Miscommunication and financial mismanagement led to the construction of the building to go beyond the time limit and budget. Part of his original building for the Prosecutor General's Chamber was assigned to three other departments (ie Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Works, Transportation and Communications and Department of Architecture and Building Services) before being assigned to the General Prosecutor once again. Lesego Motsumi, Minister of Works and Transport, reported that "the project had a 544-day delay which resulted in additional costs of P11,734,464.27" (US $ 1.9 million in July 2007).
