Pat Harris (born Eugene Patterson Harris , 16 August 1958) is a United States Senate Candidate, criminal defense and civil rights lawyer, and author.
In July 2017, Harris entered the race to represent California in the United States Senate in 2018. The seat is currently held by Senator Dianne Feinstein, who announced his intention to run for re-election on 9 October 2017.

Harris grew up in Clarksville, Arkansas where he attended the University of Arkansas, earned his Bachelor of Arts in History with honors. His father was an industrial engineer at a local shoe factory and his mother was an eighth-grade history teacher. He was selected as the award winner J. William Fulbright for outstanding history students in his final year of college. He was also selected as Phi Beta Kappa and as a finalist of the Rhodes Scholar state. After graduating from college, he worked at Washington D.C. as a legislative assistant to Bill Alexander, a former member of the Democratic congress of Arkansas.
After leaving Washington D.C., Harris has a number of jobs including working in real estate development, driving a taxi, and working for the Texas Rangers baseball team. In 1993, Harris received a Doctor Juris from the University of Michigan Law Faculty in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

After graduating from law school, Pat rejected some lucrative law firm offers to take a job at Davidson County Public Defender's Office for two years before joining Geragos & Geragos in 1996 as a criminal defense lawyer.
Harris is a lawyer with Geragos and Geragos based in Los Angeles, California for 15 years. In 2012, he regulates his own practice, Pat Harris Law Office, which deals specifically with cases of criminal defense and civil rights. In addition to successfully representing a number of high profile clients, Harris has won over $ 20 million for his clients in wrongful deaths and police abuse cases.
From 1996 to 1998, Harris was a legal aide to defendant Whitewater Susan McDougal in two separate cases. The first one is in Los Angeles, California, and the second is in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was found not guilty in both cases. The verdict in the second case is often cited as the beginning of the fall of Whitewater prosecutor Kenneth Starr.
In 2010, Harris successfully sued Glendale Police Department for mis-arresting his client, Edmond Ovasapyan, for murder. The judges gave Ovasapyan over $ 2 million (rewards reduced to $ 1.2 million by judges). Ovasapyan has been kept in Mens Central Prison in Los Angeles City Center, on the wing provided to the defendant who is accused of murder, for more than nine months. When DNA convincingly proves that he is not the murderer, he is still not immediately released.
In 2013, Harris represented Will Lynch who was accused of hitting a priest who allegedly violated him and his brother 40 years earlier. Lynch pleaded not guilty to the charge of criminal offense against Father Jerold Lindner at the Los Gatos Jesuit Sacred Heart Center in May 2010. The two-week trial was held in San Jose's court, where Lynch admitted that he had attacked a priest who had violated him.. Despite the confession, Lynch was released from the charges.

Personal life
Harris lives in Los Angeles, California with his wife Carol Welsman, a world-class jazz vocalist and pianist and their two dogs, Boomer and Lucy.
