Suzanne Anton , (born May 31, 1952) is a Canadian politician and former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of British Columbia. Elected to the British Columbia Legislative Council in the 2013 provincial election, Anton represents Vancouver-Fraserview riding as a member of the British Columbia Liberal Party, after a career at the municipal level. He was appointed British Attorney General and Minister of Justice on June 10, 2013. Prior to his political involvement, Anton was a lawyer and former prosecutor with the British Columbia Criminal Justice Branch. He was defeated in the 2017 provincial election by George Chow.

With allies, Bill Tieleman & amp; Bob Plecas), Anton seeks official status to lead "no" parties opposed to electoral reform in BC.

Anton has made a public statement in connection with the murder of Maple Batalia, a Simon Fraser University student murdered in 2011, who is accused of murder has been prosecuted but still not tried in 2015. The trial is expected to resume in January 2016.

Anton stated that the pre-trial delays must be very difficult for the Batalian family. He said the British Columbia government is committed to supporting families through the Crimes Victims Assistance Program that provides financial benefits to help people recover from the effects of victimization. He said that Crown advisors do their best to advance the case immediately and provide a fair and timely court defendant.

Born in Duncan, British Columbia, Anton graduated from Queen Margaret's School in 1970 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Victoria. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Law from the University of British Columbia in 1979.

Prior to his career in politics, Suzanne Anton was a mathematics teacher at Lisbon International School in Portugal, and through Canadian University Service Overseas in Nigeria. He's also a Crown Counsel lawyer. She serves with many organizations including Vancouver Sports Tourism Task Force; MoreSports (founding member); ARKS (Arbutus Ridge Kerrisdale Shaughnessy) CityPlan Visioning community liaison group; Vancouver Town Planning Commission; Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion Vancouver event; Kerrisdale Soccer Club (former president); Vancouver Field Sport Federation (former vice president); Achilles Track Society; and Riley Park community association.

Vancouver City Council

In 2002, Anton was elected at the Vancouver Park Board and underwent a period. In 2005, Anton was elected to the Vancouver City Council in 2005, where he was re-elected in 2008. During that time, Anton served on the Board of Directors for B.C. Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, BC Sports Hall of Fame, Gray Cup 2011 committee and Vancouver 125 committee.

While in the city government, Anton served as Vancouver director for the Canadian City Federation, where he was vice chair of the Committee to Increase Women's Participation in the City Government and sat on the Governance Assessment Committee. As Metro Director of Vancouver, Anton is a member of the Waste Management Committee, Land and Transportation Usage Committee, and the joint committee of UBC/Metro Vancouver. Anton served as Vancouver director at Translink during the initial construction of the Canadian Line. While there, he also served on the audit committee. Anton has served in various communities and sports boards.

In addition, Anton served as vice chairman of the City Planning and Environment Committee and a member of the Inheritance Commission. At the Metro Vancouver level, he is a member of the Land and Transportation Usage Committee and the Vancouver/UBC Joint Committee, where he leads the governance issues of the University of British Columbia.

In the 2011 Vancouver city election, Anton is a non-partisan Non-Partisan Association candidate for the Vancouver Mayor, who eventually lost to peter Gregor Robertson of Vision Vancouver.

In time at the Vancouver City Council, Anton also sits on the board of TransLink, Metro Vancouver, and the Canadian City Federation. He has been vice chairman of the City Planning and Environment Committee and a member of the Inheritance Commission. At the Metro Vancouver level, he is a member of the Land and Transportation Usage Committee and the Vancouver/UBC Joint Committee, where he leads the governance issues of the University of British Columbia.
