Ty Cobb (born 1950) is an American lawyer. He is a partner at Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C. until July 2017, when he joined the Trump administration legal team.

Cobb is the son of Grover C. Cobb, owner of Kansas radio station who is the senior executive vice president of the National Association of Broadcasters (who named one of their prestigious awards for him). Cobb's father is vice president/general manager of KVGB (AM)/FM in Great Bend, and has a key role in shaping the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. Cobb is reportedly a distant relative of the Hall of Fame baseball player of the same name. Cobb spent his childhood in rural Kansas.
Cobb receives A.B. from Harvard University and J.D. from Georgetown Law School. While at Harvard, Cobb was close friends with Senator Al Franken.

Careers
Cobb serves as a legal clerk for a federal judge, and then at the US Attorney's office in Baltimore as head of the criminal section and head of drug enforcement in the region and organizes a crime task unit. In 1986, he joined the Baltimore law firm, Miles and Stockbridge. Two years later, he joined Hogan & amp; Hartson, who became Hogan Lovells.
Cobb served as a special experimental advisor during an independent investigation of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in the 1990s.
Cobb succeeded in defending Hudson Foods against allegations that his executive lied to researchers after the withdrawal of beef was tainted with E. coli. Executives are released on all charges. He represents Democratic fund-raiser John Huang against campaign finance charges. Huang pleaded guilty in 1999. Other high profile clients include Eli Segal, Mary McCarthy, AIG, Office Depot, House of Saud, IBM, and Medtronic.

Cobb joins the White House to manage matters relating to ongoing investigations into Russian election disruptions, beginning July 31, 2017. Cobb is part of the White House internal legal team and reported directly to President Trump.
Cobb said that he accepted the White House duties because "it is an impossible task with a deadline." He further explained that he has "a stone on his head and a steel ball." Cobb was recommended to Trump by John Dowd, who was a member of his personal legal team.
Cobb says that there is no reason to believe that Trump is personally being investigated, and that "They are in full co-operation mode and they have been directed to cooperate fully and resolve this as soon as possible."
On May 2, 2018, Cobb announced that he retired as a special White House adviser at the end of the month.
