James E. Sharp (born in Tulsa, Oklahoma) is a prominent criminal defense attorney at Washington D.C., and partner at Sharp & amp; Partner, PLLC.

He is a nationally recognized lawyer with extensive litigation experience in federal courts across the country. He focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense, corporate and federal securities issues, as well as other complex commercial issues. His representation also includes professional athletes as well as individuals with personal injury claims. Jim is widely known by his colleagues as a lawyer who excels in and out of the courtroom. His legal career has stretched the representation of individuals accused of major offenses from Watergate to date.

As a lieutenant in the Navy JAG Corps following law school, Jim served with differences as a lawyer in a military court, and also in investigative capacity honoring the great Gulf Tonkin fires at the USS FORESTAL, and later as an advisor to the Supreme Allied Commander in honor of the loss of a nuclear submarine USS SCORPION in the North Atlantic.

For his outstanding ministry as Assistant US Attorney, he was awarded the Special Honors Department of Justice.

Since leaving the US Attorney's office, Jim has represented many individuals and corporate interests as well. Among the individuals represented were President George W. Bush in connection with the problem of special lawyers. Other interestingly interesting representations have included Jeb Stuart Magruder during the Watergate period; President Richard Nixon is close to Charles's "Bebe" Rebozo; Oscar Wyatt; Clifford Irving; and at the international level, among others, the Philippines General Fabian Ver.

Jim's representatives from professional athletes include Alex Rodriguez, Andy Pettitte and Sammy Sosa. Jim has been giving lectures on various bar-related training programs and to lawyers at other law firms regarding litigation tactics and strategies. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been recognized in various public evaluations for many years as one of the leading lawyers.

Although many representations are highly visible, Jim chose to stay out of the public spotlight, consistently refusing to discuss specifics of his present or present representations with the media or vice versa. The New York Times referred to him as a "top lawyer" who "keeps out of the limelight." Similarly, Time magazine describes Jim as "the best unknown lawyer in Washington."
