The Office of the Prosecutor General (OAG) is an Oklahoma state government agency headed by the Oklahoma Attorney General. OAG is responsible for overseeing the administration of justice throughout the State, providing legal assistance to State governments, and prosecuting State law offenders.
Oklahoma's 17th General Attorney is Scott Pruitt, who accepted the post on January 10, 2011. On December 7, 2016, President-elect Donald Trump selected Pruitt to be nominated as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Pruitt was confirmed by the United States Senate as the EPA Administrator on February 17, 2017, with Governor Mary Fallin able to appoint his successor Mike Hunter as Attorney General on 20 February 2017.

Budget
The Attorney General's Office, like most State agencies, is funded by an annual allocation from the Oklahoma Legislature. 57% of the annual budget of $ 25 million comes from the United States annual fund. 18% of the budget comes from the Revolving Fund of the Attorney General, which comprises the costs of the Attorney General charging fees to other State agencies to perform legal services on their behalf. The remaining 25% comes from various special funds.
On the expenditure side, the vast majority ($ 14 million or 58%) of the Office of the Prosecutor General's budget is spent on salaries and benefits for Office employees. $ 6.6 million (28%) consists of payments to local governments to assist them in the performance of their legal duties. The remaining $ 3.4 million (14%) is dedicated to the administrative and operational costs required to run the Office.
