Raoul Lionel Felder (born in Brooklyn, New York, May 13, 1939) is an American divorce lawyer and marriage lawyer. Felder has authored eight books and has published many articles related to marriage, politics, and social matters. Felder enrolled in the New York Law Journal's 100 Strongest Lawyers in America and in all editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law and profiled in a cover article of the May, 2008 issue of The New Yorker Magazine.

Raoul Lionel Felder was born in Brooklyn, New York; his brother Jerome became famous as a songwriter under the pseudonym Doc Pomus, who wrote songs like Save Last Dance To Me, Viva Las Vegas, This Wonder Mom , etc. He graduated from New York University Law School and was admitted to the New York Bar in the same year.

Careers in law

Before practicing Marital law, Felder was a successful prosecutor. In 1961, he was appointed Assistant US Attorney in the Eastern District of New York and in 1964, appointing US Special Assistant Attorney to appeal to the US Court of Appeals.

Felder has been applying divorce law for over forty years, and has represented clients such as Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Robin Givens, Stephanie Adams, Carol Channing, David Merrick, Riddick Bowe, former Mrs. Carl Sagan, former Mrs. Tom Clancy, former Mrs. Patrick Ewing, and former Mrs. Martin Scorsese. In 2003, he was appointed by the Governor for the New York State Judicial Commission Judgment and was elected Chairman in 2006.

Felder was appointed Honorary Police Commissioner by the New York City Police Department in 2000. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of Cop Cares and the New York City Economic Development Committee. He received the Defender of the Jerusalem Award from Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir in 1990.


Career in writing and broadcast

Felder has written eight books, including Bare Knuckle Negotiation (Wiley & Sons), Getting Away with Murder (Simon & amp; Schuster) a book on domestic violence, Divorce: Things to Do, Not Things (Legislation), and Schmucks: Favorite Fakes, Fraud, Lowlifes, Liars, The Armed and Dangerous, and Good Guys Gone Bad (Harper Collins) co-authored comedian and friend Jackie Mason. As a columnist, his articles on legal and non-legal issues have appeared in many publications including The New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Washington Times, Newsweek Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, Penthouse (an essay on Organized Crime), and is a weekly columnist for Fame Magazine and Gotham.

Felder can often be heard and seen on Radio and TV. He is a Weekly Legal Counsel on CNN and is one of the original Advisory Boards on Court TV. She has been regularly interviewed on almost all TV stations on legal issues, on major American and European TV shows including Larry King Live, 20/20, Nightline, Today Show, Good Morning America, Crossfire, 60 Minutes, Fox News Live, Fox and Friends, Hannity and Colmes, The O'Reily Factor, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Greta Van Sustern, etc.; He is the Host Crossing the Line - a weekly national public TV show dealing with current events; Moderator, The Felder Report, a series of six specials on WLIW-TV; The host of the weekly Metrolaw TV program (discussions and interviews about the law) at MSG Learning Channel, a panel of law events (1996-98). On the radio he hosted the BBC's weekly radio show all over the world - The American Perspective (1995-96); Accredited as BBC Correspondent for O.J. Simpson's case; Moderator and/or host and/or radio event attendees in the US and UK; Host and moderator of THE FELDER REPORT, United States Radio Network nationally allied 1998-2001.
