The Colorado State Attorney is chief law officer for the state of Colorado and head of the Colorado Legal Department, the main department of the Colorado state government. The incumbent Colorado Attorney General is Cynthia Coffman, elected in November 2014, for a four-year term starting on 13 January 2015.
The Legal Department has seven sections: Appeal, Natural Resources and the Environment, Consumer Protection, State Service, Civil Litigation and Employment Law, Criminal Justice, Revenue & amp; Utilities, and Business & amp; Permissions.
