The San Diego University Law School , commonly referred to as the USD Act , is a law school located at 182-acre (0.74 km 2 ) University of San Diego campus in San Diego, California in the Linda Vista community. Founded in 1954, the law school has held ABA approval since 1961. He joined the American Law School Association (AALS) in 1966.

Academics

The USD Law offers a Juris Doctor (JD.) degree in either a three-year full-time or four-year part-time program. Advanced law degree programs offered include Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in tax law, international law, criminal law, intellectual property law, business law and enterprise, and in Comparative Law for international law school graduates. A joint degree program is offered for a J.D. with a Master's degree in Business Administration, an International Master of Business Administration, or a Master of Arts in International Relations.

Academic quality

The USD Act places 71 people among the country's "Top 100" law schools in 2016 US. News Stations and World Report . In April 2010, USD ranked 6th in the state in tax laws and the first in the United States of America between a law school and a graduate tax program. In January 2011, USD Law was awarded "B" in the list of "Best Public Interest Law Schools" by The National Jurist: The Magazine for Law Students.

The school is a member of the Order of Coif, an honorary school of national law school.

Dean

The dean of law school is Stephen Ferruolo. Prior to his tenure as dean, Ferruolo was a partner at the Goodwin Procter branch in San Diego, where his practice focused on business law. Before starting his legal career, Ferruolo was a professor of history at Stanford University.

Faculty

In a 2003-2004 survey based solely on academic criteria, Brian Leiter from the University of Chicago Faculty of Law placed the 22nd USD Act in the United States for the scientific reputation of the faculty. Leiter reviews the USD Law as "Also Strong" in Criminal & amp; Procedures, Jurisprudence/Philosophy Law, Law & amp; Religion, and Legal Ethics.

Eleven faculty members are members of the American Law Institute, a legal research organization.

Famous guest professor

On various occasions, Chief Justice Antonin Scalia assessed the final round of a pseudo-court competition on campus before his death in 2016. Together with this, he is a guest lecturer of the Constitutional Law class as well as the Advocacy Class of the Mouth.

Media appearance

Junichi P. Semitsu faculty members appear on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Frank Partnoy's faculty members appear on the episode of The Daily Show discussing his book The Match King: Ivar Kreuger, The Financial Genius Behind the Wall Street Battle Age .

In 2007, the 75th percentile of the Law School Entrance Examination (LSAT) score was 164 and the 25th percentile of the LSAT score was 161 for full-time admitted students.

Advocacy Program

Court of Moot Appeal

The Moot Court Court team of law school consists of two councils, the Executive Board and the Association Board. The Appellate Moot Court Board hosts two intramural competitions each year, both open to USD and second year Law students, Moot Court Alumni Tournaments and Paul A. McLennon, Sr., Competition Moot Court Competition. The Moot Court Board also hosts the National Criminal Procedure Competition.

The National Trial Team

The US National Legal Trial Team trains students for regional and national test competitions, competing in five major tournaments each year.

Transactional Legal Team (TLT)

Transactional Legal Team is competing in National Transactional Law Conferences.

Vis Moot International Commercial Arbitrage (VICAM)

The Vis International Arbitration Moot (VICAM) team of the US Law Commission is competing in the field of international commercial law and arbitration, also known as alternative dispute settlement. VICAM members compete in Willem C. Vis Moot in Vienna, Austria and Vis East in Hong Kong.

USD VICAM organizes Michael Thorsnes International's Commercial Arbitration Competition every year. This competition serves as a preparation for Willem C. Vis Moot. This is an international competition, and by 2017 twenty-two teams from ten schools participate, including schools from Japan and Russia.
